The Story

The homeowners wanted outdoor living space but had a challenging sloped lot. We designed a two-level deck: an upper level off the kitchen for dining (16x14) and a lower level (20x16) for lounging, connected by wide steps with LED strip lighting. The entire deck uses premium cedar with a semi-transparent stain, composite railings for low maintenance, and a cedar pergola with retractable shade fabric over the dining area.

Project Scope

Two-level deck construction including concrete footings, pressure-treated framing, cedar decking, composite railings, LED lighting, and cedar pergola

Key Materials

Premium cedar decking with semi-transparent stain, composite railing system, LED strip and post-cap lighting, cedar pergola with retractable shade

Project Challenge

Significant yard slope required the upper deck to be elevated with proper structural support and the lower deck to be built at grade
